Exam marking with young baby

I am on maternity leave with a young ds-18wks. I am due back to work in Aug but money is getting a bit tight. I have been offered a contract to mark 600 GCSE scripts. Has anyone done exam marking with such a young baby. Is it manageable?

I foolishly agreed to exam marking when I was pregnant. DS was 8 weeks when I started it - bit of a nightmare in all honesty. However I am doing it again in a few weeks time and hoping it will be a bit easier this time as he is taking more regular naps now. DP was a great help the first time round and looked after DS around BFeeding so I could get some work done - also took him out a couple of days with some expressed milk. We were also quite lucky that DS normally slept 7 - 11pm most nights so I could mark in the evening. But it was tricky. Just depends on your DS really - have you marked the paper previously?

My dh would give me the time to do it at the wkd and son sleeps 8-12ish in eve so think ok to do. Standardisation meeting is real put off as ebf and wondering how ds will manage wihout me whilst doing that in London. Not keen on bottles!

That could be a problem then. I EBf'd like mad in the days running up to the standardisation meeting and when there asked at reception for a roon I could express in.

Are they not doing it online yet?

I would sort out the bottle issue so you can express and leave milk with the child minder. Best get the baby used to it so you don't spend all day worrying. And then ask for a private room if you will need to express on the day.

Plan is mil coming with me and going to nip out and feed at breaks. Now I am wondering if I am actually allowed to do this work whilst on mat leave????

Still pondering whether to go through with this. Has anyone been to the meeting and know whether it will be practical for me to nip out and meet mil and feed ds n breaks or am I deluding myself.

I work for an exam board, there will be breaks scheduled normally for coffee in the morning and lunch, and a tea break in the afternoon. I don't think anyone would mind you going off to feed ds during the breaks but you should be there for the whole of the actual meeting. My sil did this work while on ML, she found it quite tough but the money was very handy. HTH
