annual leave before maternity leave?

I?m am just after a bit of clarification on how much of my annual leave I am allowed to use before I start my maternity leave.

My works annual leave year runs from 1st April - 31st March and I have an annual entitlement of 33 days leave a year.

My first baby is due at the end of October and was wondering if I would be allowed to use all of my leave before then or just a pro-rata amount of it?

TIA

I was able to take the whole years allowance before I went off (not all in one go!) Leave year same as yours and baby born mid October. Because she was early she arrived before my maty leave started so they put dates back - I've now got a ridiculous amount of leave to take between Oct when I go back and April (37 days- hurray!)

As much as you like? Sorry to be flippant - but if you start ML in October and take six months off, you will return to work in a new leave year (just an example). If your employer is like mine, they'll want you to use up all of your leave for the year. You could do this by taking it before or after your ML.

You are entitled to all of your annual leave - you don't lose it by going on maternity leave. You should also get public holidays as well.

As everyone else has said but just another thought which I did.

I reduced my working week to 2 days a week for a few weeks using my annual leave before finally leaving - it helped me work a bit longer as I was getting plenty of rest in between my working days
