IIf you are employed by the NHS to work full time 37.5 hours a week with 11.5 hour shifts,
does anyone know how that works as three shifts makes 34.5 hours and four takes it over 37.5 hours. Are all shifts the same lenth or are some 11.5, others 8.5 etc? And does anyone know how it works with lates/earlies/nights etc or does it vary from job to job. The position is a health care assistant. Thank you

Where I work the shifts are averaged out over a month. So if you do nights one week you may only need to do a couple of short days the following week. Don't forget that an 8.5 shift will include an unpaid break of an hour or 2x30 mins making it 7.5 hrs worked.

Thank you for answering why me, that makes sense.

Where I worked 11.5 hour shifts, you worked 3 a week and then one extra during the month to cover the 1.5 hours you need to make up each week. They are actually 12 hour shifts, because you get 30 minutes lunch break unpaid.
