Should I tell my boss I have PND?

I am due back end of July for a training day then 3 days in September......if I can get it together by then......should I let him know about the PND??

Is there likely to be any issues (not sure what) from having PND on my medical records??

Gosh you are thinking far ahead here.

I would only tell your boss if you think it is going to impact on your performance. For example, if you want to do limited days when you go back and build up.

If you think/ hope you'll be in a position to do your job OK without any adjustments, then I'd do what I did and just keep schtum. I don't think though that you should worry about having it on your medical records.

Good luck. I felt much better when I went back to work, though I know it isn't the same for everyone.

Unless having PND is going to affect you in your job significantly then I would keep quiet about it. Some people have terrible prejudice about mental illness. However if you are really struggling then being upfront is probably better.

I doult it although it depends on the severity. Depression is extremely common. One in four adults suffer mental illness at some point in their lives.

You might be asked about it if you apply for life insurance. It hasn't affected me applying for jobs.

I wouldn't. You only need to go in for one day in July which is still some time away and it's 3 1/2 months until you are due to return to work. Get help for the PND & review nearer the time, hopefully you'll feel a lot better.

I wouldn't. Is there any reason why he would need to know?

I'm with the others on this one - I didn't tell for two out of three episodes of PND (and regretted at times) and the one time I did, I got a lot of support from my [male] boss and [male] deputy, and also a right lot of bitching from a female in a senior position

The time I told someone was because I was on medication which restricted my ability to do my job. I didn't want to drive - I didn't want to drive the vehicles and passengers as I normally would in my role, and also I wanted to ensure that I had someone checking up on me so that if I made any dodgy decisions (I was in a senior post) that someone would point it out or be aware that I had the need to seek guidance. In the event it just made me extra-careful and ask for help if I thought I needed it.

I do think it depends a lot on your role and your relationship with your boss.
