Sickness meeting whilst on sick level 4 stress

Hio can anyone advise me 4 a friend - they are currently on the sick due to stress - berevemnt and job related. She has already been called to 2 a meeting where HR and her line manager brought up her performance - ~( no previous mention of any problems in supervisiion meetings!) They now want her to attend another meeting on wed to discuss her return to work and a plan to ''get her back up to standard'' - though how she has fallen bellow standard is all very vauge. She is due to see the doc again toomorow and has not even been given a return to work date yet. Her union rep says she should attend - I donnt think she shopuld attend any meetings till she is less vunerable mentally - where does she stand legally?

Could her union rep attend with her? I think that she needs to attend although I am a bit as to why they are trying to force her hand with a rtw date.I'm not an expert but I think that if she doesnt attend then she gives them grounds for dismissal.

I think that she (or a rep she takes with her) should request copies of the notes made at previous supervision...if there wasnt a problem before then why are they making one now? This should be done by email if poss so that she has a record of the request being made. Because it makes dismissal easier is my initial feeling but your friend may have other thoughts.

I don't know what you mean by 'level 4' I'm afraid, I hope that's not important.

I would suggest she attend the meeting with her trade union rep but state clearly at the beginning that she is only there to discuss returning to work and feels it is not appropriate to discuss her performance as she is off sick at the moment and as she has at no point been made aware while she was at work of any concerns with her performance.

If they insist on discussing her performance she should bring an end to the meeting and say that as and when she returns to work and is doing her job, should there at that point be any concerns about her performance she will be happy to discuss them.

How long has she been signed off for?

Can I ask what the job related stress is?

Stress as in very heavy case load - says please let me catch up - ignored - most of cases
have ''legal '' timescales attached - Her team are 2 short.
Then a family member dies and even before she says she is returning from berevement leave cases are being allocated to her, she questions this on her return as very agaist ''best pratice'' in her proffesion and also says that she need a breathing space to catch up and is basically told she will be put on a very serious proffesional charge (this is later denined at a later meaning as HR have obviously told manager that they have missied out about 4 steps before this can even be raised)

She left and doc has signed her off for a month
