I think DH's boss has contempt for the Flexible Working Policy

I'm getting so stressed by this!

DH wants a vacant rostered part time position at his location. Put in formal flexible working request to move into the position (same job title as his). It has been refused verbally at the meeting, citing possible restructure as the reason.

His boss took longer than the 28 days to respond after the initial application. Now, 14 days have passed since the meeting and there is still no written refusal (we can't appeal as we don't know how- the instructions should be in the letter!)

DH's boss also told him 2 very big lies in the meeting, relevant to the refusal. HR person and Union rep were both present. DH can easily prove that these were lies, when his appeal is heard by the manager above.

What is the next step? This is a massive company and the p/t job DH wants exists already and is vacant. What do you do when the manager is completely flouting the rules? Union rep will be in touch but is mega busy this week.... and i'm stressing.

Contact HR, point out the 14 days have passed and ask where the answer is!

Might also want to add, in passing, that you're a bit concerned that is is the second time deadlines have been missed.

What Ribena said. DH should contact HR, say he wishes to appeal the decision but has still not received written confirmation of the refusal, the reasons and details of how to appeal.

In terms of what you do when the manager is completely flouting the rules, you set it out very clearly in the appeal document as evidence why the request should at the very least be heard again.

your DH I should have said. Mine won't be contacting HR.

Thank you. DH spoke to HR just now, he managed to get through to the guy who sat in at the meeting. He was very surprised and apologetic, and said that he would try to find out what was going on. Hopefully this will be a kick up the bum for her!
