RTW - somewhere else, but where to start?

Me returning to where I was is just a total no - major issues on both sides before I left and I was feeling very pushed out by peer changes in senior management, speaking to colleagues since I've been off and I am not the only one. Add to that the commute and a 60+hour week was the norm. I am on a 3 month notice and would like to have a full year off so don't need to hand my notice in just yet so I get the benefit of a years annual leave (and bank holidays - can anyone link to the law on this so I make sure I include it correctly in my resignation letter) which will be a welcome income!

Ideally, I want a part-time, less senior role but in the suburbs and not the City - how on earth do I start? Is dropping down a level in jobs possible, or do you just get completely overlooked if your cv appears overqualified? Are there any agencies that are better at part time positions?

For childcare, I think I'll end up with a childminder as the nurseries round here are apparently massively oversubscribed but will start looking at that later.

Hi, I think it depends what sector you are working in to be completely honest. I retrained and changed careers as when I started job hunting when DD was 9 months there was nothing part time or even flexible. I retrained into a lower level, more supporting role where there are numerous part time roles, but I do still feel 'over qualified' and it is hard to take that step down and still have job satisfaction.
I suppose if you do go for lower level jobs you can use your cover letter to explain why you are applying for more junior positions.
As for agencies, approach a few and see what they say, but as far as I know there are no part time only ones (I have trawled the internet incessantly over the last few months looking for part time jobs, it's hard!)
For childminders have a look at childcare.co.uk, I have met a few childminders with vacancies off there and it is a good resource, especially if you need to sort something out quickly.
Good luck!
