Holiday Care For Older Children

Work part-time at the moment but I need a change and want to find something else before I reach 50 (a few years still to go). Hoping that maybe I can find something full time as the money would be good. Would be able to sort DC2 out with breakfast club and after school club and holiday club but DC1 is 11 and holiday clubs seem to stop at 11. I don't like the thought of leaving him on his own for whole days on end during the holidays. What alternatives are there? (I have no family around to help out). Haven't got a job offer yet but already wondering whether I can consider anything...

Our council does drop in sessions for 8-14 yrs but DS didn't want to go.

We leave him "home alone" but with structures. He has a gym membership so can swim/gym etc for free anytime there are supervised sessions (daily).

We arranged meetings with friends and paid for cinema / bowling etc (Cheaper than Hol clubs)

He did some Housework and a fair bit of computer playing / video watching.

DH & I take separate days off to take him out.

As they get older they will stay in bed until lunchtime so only have a few hours before you get home

Hi meanymum.
It's a problem for me too. My kids range in age from 8 to 12.
I have no useful advice, but I hope some of the other wise Mumsnetters can advise...
