Hello, I have a 9 month old baby and have just returned to work. I?m also in the process of setting up a research company, and as a first, non-commercial (showcase) piece of work I?m keen to do something which addresses some of the challenges that I, and friends of mine, have faced.

The idea is that the findings will be used to try to change employment practices.

I would be incredibly grateful if you were able to answer the brief questions below - or a selection if you are short on time, either by replying to this thread or sending me a personal message. I will of course keep you informed of findings if you would be interested - please let me know.

Many thanks in advance.

Any other comments?

My job would not work as a share since it's project work but I think job-shares can be a good solution.

My HR department were rubbish, did everything late and I felt like it was the company vs. me rather than me being a valued employee who they were welcoming back (which is how I thought it should have been!)

Any other comments?
Good luck with your research!

Thanks so much, MrsMCAW.

For anyone else who would be able to complete this, I've uploaded the questionnaire onto SurveyMonkey:

www.surveymonkey.com/s/SNDP2FL

It should make it easier to complete, and won't take more than a couple of minutes.

Thank you, again, in advance.

Good, I work in a job share with another mum and it works well although I had to initially resign after mat leave (employer could not accommodate my request for flex working) and go back a year later than planned when job share could be accommodated, partly due to recession and it costing them less to have 2xpart-timers doing one job.
Reasons for returning to work (where applicable - delete any which do not apply, or feel free to add your own): Personal satisfaction/Financial/Career development.
If you have returned to work, did you feel supported on your return? Yes - to a certain degree, however the pressure was soon piled on even though I am doing fewer hours!
Good luck

No problem, I tried the link but did not work..

ResearcherMum · 13/03/2010 22:28

Sorry about that - I've tried to find out what's wrong but it's working from my computer (and some people I've asked to test it), so hopefully it was a temporary blip. If anyone else has any problems, could you let me know? Many thanks.

Thanks so much to everyone who has responded to the survey. If anyone else has a chance to complete it, I'd be really grateful - www.surveymonkey.com/s/SNDP2FL. It'll be up until 5pm on Monday. Many thanks.
