I want to get some qualifications in Health and social care. I found this website what do you think?

www.carejobfinder.org/jobs/here

I've applied for a course in H&S care but a friend said I may be better off training within work? I found that website and wondered if it'd be a good idea to join it? It doesn't look dodgy? I am very wary of such sites though so wondered if anyone's had experience of that or a similar site? TIA

Not heard of it before, but it looks legit. But I would just speak to your local Council as they can probably give you more relevant information.

Your best bet is to try and do NVQs within a work setting.

What area of health and social care do you want to get into ?

GypsyMoth · 08/03/2010 20:58

i am doing mine through ou....but even with the health and social care degree, some of it does have to be work based

Thanks for your replies. I'm wanting to work with the housebound preferably. I've heard I only need NVQ2 to do this? Although a friend of mine works in this field and reckons the level 2 is quite difficult?

I have done NVQs in hairdressing but that was years ago. I've been mulling over what to do workwise and keep going back to care.

Apparently there was a recent drive in my town to get people to work in social care and I missed it

I just rang the helpline though and they said I need to find an employer and do the course through my work, this would suit me much better. I heard from the college yesterday and they said if I do the level 1 at college I'll be amongst 16 to 18 year olds...and I'm 41

Level 2 is the equivilant of GCSEs if that gives you some idea of how hard the work is. NVQ is looks much more complicated than it is. I spent the first 3 months of mine thinking WTF and have almost completed it in 6 more!

Curiousmama · 10/03/2010 16:52

Nymphadora have you done the H&Social care nvq2? I've done level 2 hairdressing and also completed level 3, found those easy enough but there was a lot of practical as well as theory. I enjoyed them to be honest. I'm expecting more essays with this one.

No I am doing nvq 4 and having not done nvq before it was a bit confusing. If you know what you are doing you should be ok
