Back to work after DC 2 - I'm struggling

Did anyone else find it harder going back after number two?

After DC1 I found the transition from full time to part time ok.

This time it's a shocker. I'm not enjoying beng back, I feel, and am, rusty, and my predominantly male colleagues are so patronising I want to throw a mega strop most days.

I know I need to ride it out and thicken my skin, but any tips?

re. the patronising colleagues - I think it helps to have some all purpose phrase which serves as a polite put-down. My mum does this, literally the same phrase each time, and it works wonders. It's partly due to this absolutely flat tone she says it in as well - a bit like someone talking to a toddler. If you can do it, its marvellous.

Of course, it doesn't sound like a great place to work, so you might as well start looking around for new jobs while you're at it.

Like the idea, what does she use?

"Is that so." Imagine that said utterly flatly, not dismissively, but not as a question.

e.g.

Colleague: "You really don't want to me doing it like that, you need to do it like this."
My mum: "Is that so."

It drives me up the wall when she does it to me, but there's nothing you can actually complain about!

I like it. Shall practice it on DH today. Thankyou.

Or you could say to them, "You need to FOCUS"Fuck Off Cos Ur Stupid

It will take some time to adjust to being back. Don't put any pressure on yourself.
