I still cant get over the interview I had last week. It was a perfect job but I blew it. I was sweating like a pig, just went blank couldnt speak single sentence properly. I was so nervous, I did prepare a lot i might have over prepared.
Please tell me how can I not be so nervous for my future interview as I used to had really good interviews. Whats wrong with me now?

Jo

lol jo. i think we've all been there. if it helps, i had such a catastrophic interview a few years back that my work colleagues called me 'one horse' for 3 years... (i was the only candidate - a total shoe-in, and they still didn't give the job ) the ongoing joke was that my evil twin turned up for the interview instead lol...

anyway (the helpful bit) the same job was advertised a year later and i reapplied, and was shortlisted along with 3 others. i did get the job, mostly because i was so truly appalled with my previous attempt that i took over the entire interview and turned it into 'why you need me'... the board afterwards told my new boss that he'd better be prepared to fight to make himself heard lol...

so don't give up, you haven't lost your mojo, it just wasn't your moment

Write down all the questions they asked and then think of good answers for them. Often you get asked the same types of questions at interviews so it helps to be prepared. Rescue remedy is good for nerves.

Good luck!
This story probably won't help much, but it is funny - a friend of mine has a nervous habit of head shaking in interviews and had just about got on top of it, when she went for an interview for a job she really wanted - went to the loo while waiting and was just washing her hands, when a woman who already worked there asked if she was there for the interview - friend said yes, good luck said woman, but you might want to untuck your skirt from your knickers before you go in...
Composure destroyed! Chum remarked she had the demeanour of a nodding dog during the interview!

I recently had an interview and got the job (yeah!)

The first thing I did was to find lists of interview questions, and practice answering them all out loud.

Then I went through everything I could find about the job on the web, and spent an entire weekend reading through it all.

Then I decided the three key things about me that meant they should give the job to me, not to someone else, and made sure that I said those at least once, whatever happened.

I read a tip that you should accept a glass of water if they offer you one, and use it to play for time with any tricky questions - just pause and have a drink of water. The tip said water, because if you spill it on yourself, it doesn't matter much!
