Thinking about setting up an online baby clothes shop

Hi,

I am thinking about setting up an online baby/young childrens clothes shop. I am doing some research to see which of my ideas will work and would like some comments and answers to the following questions...

  • you do shop online for babies and childrens clothes?
  • what is the reason you shop online - is it because it is cheaper, more convenient or so that you can buy different clothes that you cannot buy on the high street?
  • what is the one thing you would like your favourite online retailer to improve on?
  • are you more likely to buy new discounted high street clothes online (such as Monsoon, Gap, Next) or an upmarket boutique selling clothes that you cannot buy in the shops?
  • would you buy discounted high street clothes online if they had the labels removed,if the goodss were in perfect condition and the clothes discounted a lot?

I appreciate your help and any comments you may have.

1 Yes

2 More convenient; can shop in the evening

3 Delivery needs to be free, quick, reliable. Clothes need to be appropriate for children and not miniature adult clothes.

4 Don't care about labels. Sell colourful, non-logoed clothes for boys and I'll buy them.

5 Possibly.

  1. Yes
  2. More convenient and wider range available
  3. Free delivery, easy to use website
  4. Decent quality nice clothes for boys not covered in logos and not sludge colours.
  5. Not sure I understand this one. If the clothes were in perfect condition why would the label be removed?

  1. yes
  2. all three
  3. the Jojo website is shite - not enough pics of available colours, no 'view all' option, weirdy categories. And Frugi is lovely but astonishingly pricey and no longer does 3pks of vests.
  4. of the two options you give, new discounted high st stuff
  5. probably, but only if you could confirm what brand they were, ie not like those ebay items that say 'ex chain store'

  1. yes
  2. limited choice locally and get sick of pink, pink, pink and 'character' clothing.
  3. agree with mrsbadger love Jojo but find their website tedious to use.
4.Don't care about labels. Sell colourful, non-logo clothes for girls and I'll buy them!
  1. I have had some mothercare stuff from ebay with the labels cut out. As long as you can see the size the actual label doesn't matter too much.

  1. yes
  1. more convenient, more choice
  1. free delivery is good, easy to use well designed website, more choice, easy/free to return
  1. not bothered about labels - high street or designer. Like good quality, practical, well designed clothes, in a range of colours.
  1. Maybe, depends on the clothes really...

just wanted to point out, this area and also wedding services is one over subscribed area in online stores. Very hard to rank highly in search engines as there are so many people doing this...
