8 weeks off then working with baby home??

I run my own business and work flexible hours from home - am about to have child no.3 and have agreed with my business partner i will 'officially' take 8 weeks off entirely, and then suck it and see. I have this perhaps naive view that i will somehow be able to achieve an hour or two on the computer each day once those first 8 weeks are out of the way, but am i living in a dreamworld? My first two kids will be at school/playgroup but baby will be home with me and i have no childminder plans. Anyone have any views on this?

Well, it's your third child, so you know better than anyone else how you are likely to feel and what you will be able to handle. Personally, I couldn't do it; I was a zombie for months after the birth, and my baby would never be put down...

i reckon it's do-able. maybe.
if it's literlaly just an hour or 2 that you need to do each day

An hour or two maybe. Partially depends how the baby sleeps during the day. I am in a similar position, although I need to do more than an hour or two and rely on our nanny to take DS2 for a couple of mornings a week. I do the rest in the evenings when DH is here to be in charge of the monitors/deal with DS2, and at weekends DH has both DS1 and 2 for a whole morning at least so I can catch up.

weekend catch up is a good idea - although i think i will find myself wanting the time with all of them then. All depends on whether its a good sleeper or a cat napper i guess

You need help with housework. Or send out washing and ironing and get a cleaner. I'm astonished at how much more general housework us involved with three kids. I don't sit down unt 8.30pm every night and then have to study. It's exhausting.
