Are there any cbt counsellors out there who could give me some advice re training.I was doing a post grad in person centred 4 years ago but found the approach did not 'sit well'with me, and I also had a change in circumstances which meant I was unable to complete the second year. I am now contemplating trying to become qualified but would like to do cbt training, however, accredited courses of any level seem to require I have 2 years clinical practice, which I do not! Any advice much appreciated!

where are you in the UK? there are courses available without prior experience depending on where you are. you could look at info about the NHS training requirements as they are massively investing in CBT - google Increased Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT).
Also the BACP website has some info about accredite training courses for most approaches.

Thanks thirtysomething--I'm in Cumbria and know there is great demand.Carlisle is nearest place but access to postgrad dip requires 2 years clinacal experience.. i will definately have a look at job descriptions and see what level of qualification is required to start with-are you involved in counselling?

Yes I am - in a different approach entirely to CBT but have to say I've regretted not training in CBT at times as that's where the jobs are! However CBT isn't really my thing so horses for courses and all that!! I think these days you can go into the NHS and get some sort of on-the-job training with CBT but you have to be from a related discipline like nursing, social work etc..
