Annualized hours contract

Does anybody have an annualised hours contract? I am being offered a permanant post with an organisation I currently do ad hoc work for and they are offering me annualized hours. I did want term time only but they aren't keen on that. I would be contracted to do 15 hours a week but the hours would be divided quarterly over the year.
Any advice welcome

I haven't worked under annualised contract but I was on a preschool committee and we used to offer annualised contracts.
One advantage is that holiday pay is usually about right when you quit (less headache figuring out what's owed). I think most employees prefer annualised to term-time only because the income stream is consistent.

Make sure it is clear who decides when you work your hours. Can you literally organise your own workload and basically turn up whenever you want as long as you get your total hours done? Or are there specific restrictions on when you can and can't work?

hi flowery was hoping an HR person would see this! Basically they have said I can do 15 to 20 hours a week decided by me. I have elected to do 15 and then these hours will need to be divided up quarterly I assume so that I cannot work all the years hours in one go and have 8 months off
I decide the days I work so have elected to do 2 days a week but then I can also work some at home and come in for other days if I want to or the service needs it but I can say no if I can't do a particular day
What I was really concerned about is if the hours have to be worked quarterly would my annual leave be dicvided up like that too.
Obviously I am hoping that I can take my laeve when I want in the school holidays. If they forced me to take the leave quarterly it wouldn't work out for me.

I dont know about the legal position but when I work for a large bank (many years ago) I had an annualised hours contract. It stated that I had to be in the office in core hours (between 10am and 3pm) but outside that was by arrangement with my line manager. I used to start at 7.30am and usually finish at 5pm (was aiming to finish at 3 but it never happened).

By the end of October one year, I was told that basically I had worked all my hours for that year and was just in for core hours until the end of december or get paid overtime.

My annual leave was based on a 7.5hr day and could take it at any point during the year subject to the normal staffing constraints.
