I'm hoping to go back to work after mat. leave soon (my last job was a temp contract so no job to go back to).

Can anyone recommend temping agencies in London? I've found a few, but I'd like to contact as many as I can.

I'm looking for general admin stuff (I have 8+ years experience).

TIA

I used to work in temporary recruitment years ago, and I'd suggest limiting the approaches you make, at least to begin with.

Find the best and busiest agencies and stick to them - you're more likely to get a decent rate and treatment I would think.

If you've got good experience and references the agencies will be falling over themselves to place you.

(Unless things have changed since my day.)

try Crone Corkhill, Office Angels etc

ProspectUs Temps are very good, they have placements in charities, universities and non-profit organisations. I got a permanent job through one of their placements too! Good luck.

Brilliant, thanks for the replies.

OurLadyOfPerpetualSupper that's great advice - but which ones are they I wonder?

I guess my question should be "What are the best / busiest agencies" in that case!

Can't help I'm afraid - I left nearly 15 years ago! I did work for what used to be known as Accountancy Personnel - think they're now Hays AP or something.

Although not an admin specialist, we did have clients who wanted more general admin. people at times - or would occasionally 'sell in' an outstanding candidate to a client, so it might be worth approaching an accountancy specialist.

Plus obviously a lot of the skills are interchangeable anyway.

May and Stephens might be worth a try- they helped me out on numerous occasions

Joslin Rowe at Bell Coutyard - there is a lovely mad mad lady called Alison who has cats and affairs with sexy but innapropriate men!

She kept me in work for most of my twenties!

B J Crawfords - lovely ladies there.

Ewe · 05/01/2010 15:33

Angela Mortimer and Tate would be my recommendations.

That's brilliant, thanks everyone!

MadameCastafiore sounds great!
