Midwifery questions......

Hi, I am wondering if anyone can help me. I am very interested in training to become a midwife, I understand it's a 3 year course. My GCSE's were not brilliant either.

I am also wondering my H is away in the week at the moment so how would that work in the future with shifts etc (obviously things maybe different in 3 years time!)

Any other help and advice would be great

Thanks

Hi, unless you have any further qualifications after GCSEs then you need to look at doing an access to nursing/midwifery course, your local college or university is likely to offer this. Most universities will require this before you apply for a place on the midwifery course.

The course is 3 years at diploma or degree level ( all training will be degree level only from 2013)

WRT shifts its worth remembering that you will have to do shifts whilst you are training too. In many ways this can be more difficult then when you've qualified as you have to work work a prescibed number of hours in order to register. Once qulaified you are more able to choose number of hours etc..

So first step i'd advise is to try and get to an open day at the uni you would like to study at and get some more info. Failing that get in touch with the course leader.

Have you had a look at university websites for entry requirements?
Childcare has to be really flexible for shift work obvioulsy so you'd need to sort that out.
