Hi

I really need some help as to what is my next point of call.

The company I work for has gone into administration 2 weeks ago. I along with a few other employees received a letter on Saturday informing me of my redundancy.

This came as a shock to me as my replacment still has a job and I have worked there longer than anyone else.

What I find intresting is that the administrators have only got rid of the people on maternity leave and on sick leave. Everyone else is still employed there.

I have been told I am now unemployed and they wont pay my maternity pay.

Where do I go now to get my maternity pay? And also does anyone think I have a claim against the administrators/employer?

Its so confusing!

Look forward to hearing from somebody

Lauren

I'm no expert but that sounds really dodgy to me. I was made redundant along with a group of others back in september and we had a month long consultation process with skills matrix etc.

I would be inclined to give your local CAB a ring and go through it with them. Also, in our local yellow pages, there is a national number for an employment law phone line which might be worth a ring. I'll see if i can find it for you and pop back in a sec.

This wasn't the number I was looking for but they do offer free, confidential legal advice so might be useful - 0845 345 4 345 (from this website

I also found this which might help.

Hope those links work!

Thanks very much for your help. I went to see an employment solicitor last week she seemed to think we had a case.

However as the company is in administration there won't be much financial gain from it. I just want to prove to them they are in the wrong.

I feel they've robbed me of my time to spend with my newborn son as I'm constantly worrying about work!

I will give that number a ring and see what else I can do.

Thanks again for your help

Such a nightmare trying to find out about being pregnant when your company is going into administration! It was announced last week but still don't know what it actually means for the employees. Have heard from others that they get rid of pregnant women first which backs up what you have said Lauren but like you I have an employment lawyer on standby just in case they keep on my male, non pregnant colleague! So frustrating that I have been working constantly for the last 20 years and claimed no benefits and yet because I may not be working in my 15th week before due date, I am only entitled to £123 a week and not 90% of pay for 6 weeks - quite a difference!
