Legal required unpaid breaks

I am hoping to ask for wlb to reduce my daily working hours to 6hrs. Am i legally obliged to take an unpaid 30 min break or would I be able to have a 'normal' 15 mins paid break. Hope this makes sense.

Forgot to say that the hours wish to work would be something like 9-3.

I was told we had to allow for a 30 min break so to work 5 paid hours I do 9-2.30

I often work 6 hours without a paid break, I think the law is that for every 6 hours you have to have a break?

Yes that's what i thought. I don't know if i would be able to get away with working 9-2.30 though (which would suit me better) I think i would have to take the unpaid 30 mins in the middle somewhere. Thanks folks

I'm fairly sure that once you get to 6 hours then you must have a break. This break is a minimum of 20 mins. Lots of pt workers only do 6 hours for this reason

thanks for that said, trying to read it but dd climbing over me. Can't see anything stating that the break is paid or unpaid. i was hoping that it is a paid break as it adds up to 2 and half hrs a week (10hrs a month) hope i am making sense. What i'm trying to say is that i'd rather just spend 5 and half hrs at work instead of 6 if i'm only getting paid for 5and half.

Well, I read "A worker is entitled to an uninterrupted break of 20 minutes when daily working time is more than six hours. It should be a break in working time and should not be taken either at the start, or at the end, of a working day." as meaning that if you only work 5.5 hours that's all you'll get paid for. I don't think you're entitled to the 30 minute break if have only worked 5.5 hours.

If I'm wrong, hopefully someone will come along to correct me.
