Looking for feedback from those of you who sell through party plan Virgin vie, Ann summers anything.

I like the idea of this kind of work but what are realistic earnings. Whos the best to work for?

I would like to sell my own stuff (toys) through party plan, but maybe that would only work in the run up to christmas- Stocking Filler Parties.

Do most people like their parties in the evening or is there a market for daytime events when kids at school.

Have you thought about Phoenix Trading (cards, giftwrap ... )? You can sell through parties, catalogues, fetes, Christmas fayres etc, etc. They do charity Christmas cards and joining now ready for the run up to Christmas (starts September!) would be a good idea.

I went to a Mini IQ party this morning and am quite interested in finding out more about that. Anyone have any info for me? TIA

SPARKLER1 · 21/06/2005 12:29

...and info for everyone else too!! Sorry didn't mean to crash your thread! LOL

Jimjams · 22/06/2005 19:01

sparkler you can CAT me if you want. The main advantage of mini-IQ over other party plan businesses is that its new- so there's lots of chance to sponsor people, rather than just do the party plan bit. In any of these businesses the best way to make sensible money is sponsor rather than just sell.

moozoboozo · 22/06/2005 19:05

I do mini iq too. its fab

Skribble · 22/06/2005 23:45

What is mini IQ, books?

OP posts:
Jimjams · 23/06/2005 12:38

children's books, but all the books are a little bit different.

The main problem I'm finding with party-plan is time to be honest. There are other network marketing opportunities that take less time.

And of course your have to watch out for cons!

If it's of any interest, I'm involved with a company called BuyBaby, which sells gear for babies, toddlers and new mums/mums-to-be through a party plan system.

It is still fairly new, so I couldn't make any hard promises about how much you will earn, but for a new consultant, expecting to keep £40-50 per party is probably realistic.

Have a look at the BuyBaby website if you'd like to know more.

I have done many different businesses in the past but for some reason always had an issue feeling comfortable "selling" products to people.
That said, I've now finally settled on a business which suits me really well.
Mini IQ offer books, toys and games for babies, toddlers & pre-schoolers and also have items supporting the national curriculum KS1 and KS2.
I joined as an associate last summer and for the first time ever, I think because I believe in the products and my own children love them so much, parties are a doddle!

A typical party (daytime or evening) takes about 2 hours, on average I'll collect orders between £200 and £400 per party and keep 25% in commission. Mini IQ also pay out extra monthly bonuses (eg in November I earned an extra 9%) on team sales.

I just do parties to fit round my other commitments. It really doesn't feel like work and definitely doesn't feel like I'm selling to people. I chat to other mums about the stage of development their children are at and there's always something in the catalogue that's just right for their children. All our hostesses and customers just fall in love with the products and come back for more as their children move on to the next stage developmentally.

My 7 yo ds was a reluctant reader until I started Mini IQ in September, now (mainly because of a Glow in the Dark Space book where all the words light up in the dark!)he's totally converted and loves reading!

I started my business with a £99 kit and made more than that back in my first week! I'm now doing a Leap to Leadership Course run by the company, have my own team of 5 ladies and see it more as a long term career opportunity now than anything I could have imagined "just from party plan"!!
If you want to know more about Mini IQ, I'm happy to send out business info to anyone interested. Email me on [email protected]

Hi there, I am a Manager for a french childrenswear company, I joined as a Consultant in August last year and am starting the new season this month as a Manager with a small team of 5. I have worked for Body Shop and Virgin Vie before but always felt that my weekends were always spent working and there was a fair bit of drinking done by the guests so sometimes I would be out for hours. Because I am not dealing with childrens clothes, a lot of my parties are thru the day (coffee mornings, toddler groups etc) and the best thing is I can take my youngest and she can have a play with other children too. Parties can last anything up to 2 hours, but on one occasion I sold £500 of items in 40 minutes which was rather good! (Incidently I earned £100 and gained another two bookings which also were good sales)

The main thing with the company I work for now, Captain Tortue, is that it is still small so the world is your oyster so to speak. Its up to me where I go to do parties and also how many days/nights i work. I feel the same that this is a new career for me, my daughter goes to school this year and I am confident I can build my business up so that I don't have to return to my 9-5 job.

If you would like any information please contact me at [email protected]. Thanks for reading!!

Hi I work with Forever Living Products. I work approx 15 hrs per week around my 2 chlidren. I do parties both in the day and evening. They take about 2 hrs and I can take anything from £200 to £800 per event. The day time events are normally with other mums so I can take my little one with. I earn 35% from all retail sales.

I'm also building a team, and as with other team marketing companies I earn a team bonus from them too.

The company also provides fantastic training and has an brlliant support network.
I'm on target to replace my full-time income by the end of this year. Put is this way I'll never go back to having a job (or Just Over Broke as we call it)
