np - I just quit my job at Tescos and I HATED it. So unbelievably rude people, just arses really.

My pay started at 5.78, going up to 6 something after probation.

Coop pay is a lot lower, but I've heard it's a better atmosphere. Both will make you fill out one of those daft which is more important a health b safety c customers d happiness things.

how did it go??????

nailpolish · 16/06/2005 11:38

well, i tried to appear enthusiastic but i think it came across as desperate!

he just launched into telling me all about the job, not asking any questions, i was really annoyed because i had all my fabulous answers prepared, so i just launched into that after he had finished

he then just told me he had more people to interview and he will call friday.

he basically said he is finding it difficult finding people who want to work evenings and weekends (these are the only times i CAN work) and he said its set days/shifts (good for me) and its sometimes split shifts (yuck) which he finds hard to fill (no wonder! he should change his rota then, if no-one likes the present one)

so just wait and see

thanks for asking xxx

I used to work in the co-op whilst in the 6th form. TBH it wasn't that bad but they did have a habit of ringing at very short notice asking you to do extra shifts.
I then ended up on the deli on a saturday night - awful! I had to wear an orange hat and clean and clear away the whole counter - it closed at 8pm in those days and I would be going straight to the pubs afterwards like you do at 18 and I probably stunk of cold meats and rolled herrings in vinegar and my hair would be completely dishevelled after wearing that darned hat!

nailpolish · 16/06/2005 12:25

mmmmmmmm rolled herrings

i worked in asda in the days before scanning and barcodes ( i sh*t you not) i was so rubbish, it was when things had prices on via a sticker and this guy came up to the counter with condoms and no price and i had to press the button to the INTERCOM - when he ran back and got some with a price on.

i regularly got an envelope slipped under my til which read Dear mrs custardo your til was £10 under/over yesterday. be warned.

we were told to greet people by their surname whent hey gave us their credit card eg " thank you mrs blogs" i felt a proper twot.

custy, sainsburys were still encouraging us to do that when I trained and that's only 5-6 years ago. I refused to do it and I hate it when people do it to me in shops - "excuse me? do I know you?"
