IF MONDAY IS USUALLY MY DAY OFF, DO I GET BANK HOLIDAYS BACK?

O.k. so I went back to work and we changed my working days from Monday-Friday to Tuesday-Saturday.

My question now is before I confront my Manager ...

As Monday is my usual day off will I be entitled to a day off during the week (or at a later stage) if the Monday is a Bank Holiday?

I throw this question to the knowledgable MN board

But I work flexitime, so I could work Monday one week and not the next... actually, my employer has NO DEFINITION of how many hours constitutes full time, so I could interpret my 40% as 4 hours or 40 hours/week. Mad, innit?

Laylasmum - find out what FT workers at your firm get for BHs. If they are paid/get time off then you should too.

MrsBigD - the clincher, as far as I can tell, is the wording of your contract. Your annual leave entitlement should be a minimum of 4 weeks (in your case 20 days) but that could be inclusive of the BHs (currently 8). Check what it says.

I don't work Mondays, but get a proportion of it in my leave

Think it depends on the company.

Tescos for instance where I used to work, have some weird scheme where when my contracted hours fell on a bank holiday, I had to work extra to get my pay, but they gave someone who never worked that bankholiday day time off!

i didn't know that.... can you change your day off then?

I've worked p/t in three different companies, and all had different rules.

In the end I just opted to work Fri, Mon & Tue. That way I always got the bank holidays off and no one ever said I should pay back a percentage of the time - HR never seemed to notice or no one seemed to mind.
