One option is to reply that you can come, but will have to bring your daughter in as well.

The chair is being V. V. unreasonable and yes, it probably is sexual discrimination. Point that one out to him and see how he wiggles.

What an arse. TBH I would have said it's too short notice for you to make changes to your schedule to come in earlier (ie. not mentioned childcare).

I would respond to him and say that thank-you but I am committed and I will get there as soon as possible. And for the future can you let me know further in advance than the day before if there are to be meeting changes.

I would also take it up with your line manager at your organisation and get your organisation to send a letter.

LaurieFairyCake · 19/05/2009 15:58

I would also ask about the procedure for letting the chair know if you can't attend and if anyone can't attend one meeting are they deemed to have resigned - ask for clarificatio. I would also point out if anyone else has ever been late for any reason - traffic etc.

Second LFCs advice, could also ask him to email you dates and times for meetings for the rest of the year.

Its very bad practice to adjust timings at such short notice and he probably did it to accomodate someone else.

He is clearly being an arse, i would however be extremely polite and reasonable in email tone.

Kitsilano · 27/05/2009 12:15

Good for you!

dancingqueeen · 27/05/2009 18:59

good for you! I can't believe his attitude to you needing to organise child care.

do they have procedural rules? ie. is there something in the rules about how much notice needs to be given for meetings? this might help you in the future?

dancingqueeen · 27/05/2009 18:59

sorry, just read your later post properly, good result about the rest of the year!
