Blimey I've just seen your last post DoNotAnnoy. So where you are one 'day' holiday is a full day regardless of how many hours you actually work in a day? Good grief! That's more like hours then really, only not expressed in hours.
Well yes in that case it might be expressed differently, but personally that sounds like a nightmare. So for someone working, say 9-12:30, to take 5 days off, they actually need to book 2.5 days holiday where you are, is that right?
That might work where people work exact half days, but what about people who work different hours? If you have three part timers, one who works 9 - 2 and someone else who works 9 - 2.30 and someone else who works 9 - 3.30, say, how on earth do you make that fair. How many 'days' off does each person need to take to get a week off? To be strictly fair you'd end up with all sorts of fractions of days being taken, making mistakes easy and calculation of entitlement and administration very difficult, imo.
Sorry, I realise it's probably not your idea to organise holiday that way, so not criticising you at all, but that just seems like an unnecessary headache to me! I'm a simple kinda gal, and if holiday can be expressed in number of days off, I find that easier all round. Obviously if someone works different numbers of days each week, or different hours each day, to be fair holiday would have to be expressed and administered in hours, but I prefer avoiding that kind of arrangement if possible!
