I don't want to go back to work in an office (bore), and would like to work from home or for myself. I am just wondering who out there has a job that they really love, or who earns a lot of money?

Where so your talents lie? Are you creative / crafty or good with figures. Do you see yourself in wellies or painted nails?

I am an artist and i have a friend who pet sits (goes to houses and has caged furries), also i know someone who does accounts for small businesses and someone who makes wedding cakes and someone who does hair & make up for weddings.

I am in Legal Recruitment, used to work for firm in city centre, now set up on my own (with a business partner)
Not made my fortune yet, though!

Wow! Thanks, that's a good list!
Well....I am a make-up artist, but being in the "creative" industry there is not loads of work to come by and a lot of it is unpaid. I want to put my ds into nursery, but can only do that once I have a regular income, hence needing to find another "filler" job IYSWIM. Confused? I am

How about setting yourself up as an image/make-up consultant?

  • Run make-up/ makeover parties for teenagers/ hen-nights/ bored housewives
  • run a professional side - for business women

Lots of people do that in conjunction with 'Colour Me Beautiful' style stuff.

Lady near us charges £120 day for one of her workshops.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 11/05/2009 17:46

GO to wedding fairs and see if you can do brides make up, approach wedding venues and see if you can be on their reccommended list.

blondissimo · 11/05/2009 20:03

Thanks for the great ideas. Used to do wedding fairs but never got a lot of work from them, plus there is the added cost of exhibiting.
But the makeover things sound good - I used to work with a photographer and did makeover shoots. Think I just need to get back into the way of things - it's been a long time!

blondissmo, i wonder whether you could do makeover sessions for teens: nails, facials, etc but nice not tacky, skincare advice mixed with fun? My teen would love it AND can't get anyone to do her and her mates' makeup for their prom night
advertise on school websites???

blondissimo · 20/05/2009 14:39

Thanks over the mill - that's a really good idea. I would have loved to have something like that when I was a bored and confused teenager pencilling on my eyebrows!!!

overthemill · 20/05/2009 20:50

good - now where do you live? you could come here!!!

stripeypineapple · 20/05/2009 20:56

I have a home visiting holistic massage business.

I've also added another string to my professional bow in the shape of a qualification to teach baby massage so I'm about to launch some baby massage classes too.

I do these within school hours so I can still take my daughter to school and pick her, which is quite important to me.

overthemill · 20/05/2009 20:59

great idea. we had someone come to our nct group to teach us how to do it and we loved it - that kind of thing might be good for you while setting up?

Sally6335 · 27/05/2009 21:40

Hi

Yes I do love my job!! I have been working for a company called Forever Living Products who have a range of Aloe Vera and Beehive Products. I am throughly enjoying it and it is a home based business that fits in so well with the children, in part hours to suit, AND there is the potential to generate a fantastic income! If you are interested blondissimo, or anyone else, I am recruiting at the moment and would happy talk to you more about the opporunity.

Please call me on 01773 857883
or 07800 944864

Kind regards
Sally
