I am a primary school teacher (SENCo - non class based). I have three children ds1 is 6, ds2 is 3 and dd1 is 6 months. Before going on maternity leave i did 3 days per week. I have initially gone back to work for two days per week the plan being to go up to three days around June time. So, the thing is I hate it (work that is). Previously when I went back I really liked the balance and enjoyed the adult company but now with 3 children and never a dull moment at home I am finding work really dull and missing all three children terribly. So should I request a permanent change to 2 days per week? Financially we could afford it although of course it would be easier if I did three days. The other dilema is that doing 2 days my mom and dad have the children 1 day and mil / fil do 1 day. If i go up to 3 days dd1 will go to nursery 1 day. Of course we would save the fees if i stay at 2 days but am i depriving her of an opportunity i gave the boys (i alwats felt nursery did them good and made starting school easier. I know I am lucky to have a flexible job and esp to get all the school holidays.. Isuppose my real worry about staying at two days is that it means treating dd1 differently to the boys ie not attending nursery! Advice please?

I would go to two if you have the option.Children are just so so precious, you need to enjoy every minute,if you are happy they will be too!!

I would stay at 2 days. I think nursery is overated until age 2 or 3 upwards. After that, playgroups come into their own. My eldest was in nursery f/t, other 4 with me as a SAHM, but all have been/will go to playgroups etc and toddler groups.

If you can afford two days and want to do two days, then yes do that. Your DD can go to nursery when she is two or three, and you can go to plenty of playgroups and toddler groups in the meantime.
