WWYD? Going back to work/voluntary redundancy dilemma!

Ok, I have just had dd2, not actually due to go back to work til next April, so a wee bit away! But my work are currently running a voluntary redundancy scheme, which would give me 90% of my salary, enough to pay off debts and leave a couple of thousand pounds in the bank. (I'm pt, 3 days per week)

Now when I go back I'm looking at 2 preschoolers in childcare and even counting that dd1 will be getting her 12.5 hrs free place by next August, this still would leave me with about 200 free, which would be spent on repaying car loan and on travel costs associated with work. I.e I'd be paying out way more than I was earning.

Added to this, I hate my job, its beyond boring, but reasonably well paid for pt, and its hassle free, apart from the mind bending erosion of self esteem that comes from sitting with nothing to do all day!

It sounds like abit of a no brainer, but dh is a self employed IT contractor, and though his job is fairly stable with a government agency, and he would be first in line for any permanent positions, its still not a permamnent contract!

So do I go for redundancy, and be a sahm for acouple of years? When dd2 goes to nursery I'd be thinking about retraining to teach (would only be the 1 year conversion) or possibly some other career change, or even getting my formal librarianship qualification. (I currently work in a library)WWYD?

Sounds like a wonderful opportunity tbh. I think that returning to work after 2nd child is very hard., though not as hard as when they start school and you discover that wraparound care adds up to less hours than you would have had at nursery!
