Would you rather use a female plumber over a male?

I am just about to complete my first qualification in plumbing. I have had hands on experience with DP, and will continue on to gas in sept. I would like to start up a business now and was wondering what thoughts you may have of a female plumber, also ideas for a company name. I would really appreciate the voice and ideas of MN.

Hi Sixer! I live in the north west of England and I'm a fully qualified female plumber, and also due to qualify my gas in June 2011.. I have had many positive comments on my work, esp from the elderly and people who don't trust Men.. sorry guys!! but I have also come across some sexist Men, who don't think we are capable of doing the job.. but in fact they couldn't be any more wrong, coz we can!!! and I have proved that to them people!! at first I found it scary having to prove myself to them people, but enjoy it now!! coz iv done my studying and deserve to be respected just as any guy would!! as for names what more is simple than your name and your service.. mine is Kelly Adamson plumbing and heating.. that way its obvious i'm female, and I'm a plumber, I did cross the avenue of pink plumber, and others like that, but dont want to make it anymore sexiest than it is. Good luck anyway.

I'd love a female plumber! Grin

Our childminder has a client who is a female plumber, she's getting great business and lots of referrals. Go for it!

Wench with a wrench, Tits and Taps, All ball but no cock. All funny but likely to get you the wrong sort of attention. I just trade under my name, it's obvous I'm a woman and people keep coming back, so I can obviously do the job.

I would go with just your name and job title. I think it would sound most professional.

I'm a female builder/labourer currently working with my dad but he's planning on retiring soon. I would love to carry on by myself, just need the confidence to do that.

hi myself and partner are gas safe plumbers and working in and around hertfordshire area it hasnt been easy as men like to think they know it all and have a hard time letting us just get on with what they called us to do but we are getting there and your right single mothers and elderly do seem to trust weman more in there houses but you do need support of the community and word of mouth as there is many people who like to shoot a good idea down good luck keep going
