Health and Safety Policy

Have just started as a freelance research consultant, working for myself and no other employees.
A client has asked me for a copy of my health and safety policy.
From looking online, it seems that only companies employing 5+ employees have to have a written policy.
I just wondered if anyone else had looked into this - I can download a summary from Internet, but it seems a bit OTT, as it's just me at home, working on my PC.
Is this going to involve a lot of work to do?
TIA

ime it is worth doing exactly what you have done: look on the internet find a policy that is appropriate and relevant, then adopt it as your own.

You are likely to be asked also for equalities policy (equal opportunities and diversity). Sometimes also things like corporate social responsibility policies (helps if you make regular donations from your business to charity, recycle your waste etc)

Best to find something you are comfortable with from the net and adopt it as your policy. Then adhere to it. (Might mean you can't just employ your niece as office assistant).

thanks notsoclever, i'll do that, hopefully it won't take too long. there seems so much red tape to do, before i even start work.

i think if i employ my niece as an office assistant, i might be up for child labour, as she is only 2 years old
