Hi, I've been working with adults with learning disabilities for 12 years and would really like to get some childcare qualifications. I'd love to work at my daughters school. I've looked in to the NVQ3 and that sounds good but I've looked the school up on OFSTED and all the nursery teachers have either NNEB or teaching qualifications. Can you still get NNEBs ? and if not, what is the equivelant?
I'd be really greatful if you could enlighten me.

I've got an NVQ3 in Childcare Learning and Development (Foundation Stage) and was told this was NNEB equivalent.

I have the CACHE Diploma in childcare and education (NNEB Equivelant)

Do you know how much it costs? I'm over 25

It personally cost me £300, and the local authority paid the other £500

So I might have to pay up to about £800.
Does it have to be paid in one go? I'd better start saving.

"Nursery Assistant
You could begin your career by working under supervision as a nursery assistant. Courses and qualifications that can help you prepare for work as a nursery assistant include:

CACHE Level 2 Certificate in Child Care and Education
City & Guilds, CACHE or BTEC Certificate in Children's Care, Learning and Development
NVQ Level 2 in Children's Care, Learning and Development ? you may need to arrange a relevant work placement.

Nursery Nurse
To begin work as a nursery nurse, you will need a level 3 qualification such as:
CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Child Care and Education
BTEC National Diploma in Children's Care, Learning and Development
NVQ Level 3 in Children's Care, Learning and Development ? you may need to arrange a relevant work placement. "

Courses can be college based with either 2/3 day placements, or some nurseries offer apprenticships and you do day release to college.

Random example of a college course

Have a look at your local college and see what early years courses they have, you can get funding through loans or grants.

Thanks everyone, I'll give my local college a ring to find out about their courses.
