I need to get some pens done (with my logo etc) for my business - does anyone use a good reputable agency for this kind of thing? There seem to be hundreds on the net

I have looked at these too and thought the same pickupthismess...

Hope someone comes along soon and gies us a few tips!

I know BCTBE - there must be someone out there [hopeful emoticon]

I got sent one from a company free in the post as a sample, but it's rubbish so I kept the pen and chucked the details of the company away.

This thread reminded me that I'd read somewhere about being able to get various recycled items branded for promotions.

Have a look here:
www.recycledpromotionalproducts.co.uk

Never heard of 'em, haven't used 'em, can't recommend 'em etc but could be an option depending on your brand image?

nuttygirl · 02/03/2009 20:01

Don't use Vistaprint. I got a free one and it was crap.

Jaamy · 02/03/2009 22:22

Hi PUTM. I have used a couple of promotional print suppliers in the past (good quality). Will see if I still have contact numbers and get back to you...

pickupthismess · 03/03/2009 10:04

Thanks all. I had a look at the recycled stuff, great idea but porbably a bit pricey for me. Jaamy it'd be useful if you do have any numbers.

Hi PUTM.

A couple of suppliers for you to look at. Obv, they will have cheap pens etc as well as more expensive ones. Remember the more colours you want in your print, the more expensive it will be. You will also need to factor in delivery. Some suppliers also charge for proofs.

www.lslprint.co.uk They are very helpful and will come up with something in your budget. They do the printing themselves so turnaround is quite good. If you end up speaking to Brian Lomax himself, tell him the Liverpool lady who he used to visit in Bolton sent you!

JSM Business gifts in Gloucester (01452 310030) is the supplier of pens and keyrings that we used in my last employers. Again, very attentive and accommodating. I still have some of the pens and they have lasted really well. Keyrings were really good quality though we did choose one of the pricier ones and ordered in bulk...they're probably still trying to get rid of them 18 months later!

HTH - please let me know how you get on.

mrsbaldwin · 03/03/2009 14:14

This thread started off a train of thought in me. What I could do with more than promo pens etc is some of those big sticky labels (with my logo etc on) that you can use to recycle envelopes.

smurfgirl · 03/03/2009 14:35

I have used this company before for stuff for uni and they were very good.

pickupthismess · 03/03/2009 15:47

Thanks that's great, I'll look them all up now. MrsB, that's a very good idea. I've never seen them though?

Envelope labels: I used to have some with a charity logo on about 10 years ago (maybe it was FoE or some other obvious promoter of recycling). But sometimes when you get stuff mail order through the post it comes with similar labels on, printed with company addresses.

I would say at a guess that any printer ought to be able to make some. But in due course (ie not this week) I might ask the print firm I've most recently used if they can do it - and if I get some I will post a link here.

bigcometobedeyes · 04/03/2009 10:12

Mrs B you can buy printer labels even in tescos! - great tip though, thanks

Jaamy · 04/03/2009 11:37

Just be careful when you are printing address labels that you don't use an inkjet printer...will smudge the address if it gets wet/rained on. I think I know the labels you mean MrsB they are quite large (to cover address on reused envelope) with your details/logo in say the rh bottom corner and space for you to write customer's address. I would imagine most printers would be able to source these for you.

mrsbaldwin · 05/03/2009 05:14

Jaamy: inkjet printer and rain tip: good point, thx!

BCTBE: I had a look at some blank labels in Smiths today, now this thread has started off the idea - but nothing big enough to suit. As Jaamy says they would have to be quite large - maybe half of A5.

Anyway, I have started the process of getting a quote from the printers. I will post here, for interest, when I have.

Jaamy · 05/03/2009 10:23

MrsB - hadn't occurred to me until DH warned me against it when I was sending out my first invoices!!!

bigcometobedeyes · 05/03/2009 13:32

I have noted this down - thanks jaamy for additional info

Hope you get a favourable quote MrsB

pickupthismess · 05/03/2009 22:57

Also just another tip. I asked for a few samples from two of the suppliers mentioned here. One has never arrived. The other sent loads of them (and they weren't quite what I had asked for). In the envelope they asked me to send them back which is going to cost me quite a bit when I asked for two specific pens and got around 12, not including the ones I wanted.

OP posts:
Jaamy · 06/03/2009 13:13

PUTM - hope they weren't from the suppliers I had mentioned. Am ever so sorry if that is the case. . I would refuse to return them as they weren't as you had requested. Were the samples to demonstrate the printing capabilities, do you think? Either way, they shouldn't ask you to return them!

pickupthismess · 06/03/2009 13:47

No Jaamy, there's no printing on them. Bit of a cheek I think.
