Hi there
Can anyone help me? Currently work part time and have been asked to come back full time or 'a business decision may be made' to recruit someone fulltime instead of me.

Just looking for some advise on where I stand if they agreed that I come back part time after DS1 just over 18 months ago.

If they agreed your original request to work part time, that is a permanent change to your terms and conditions - they can't just take that away. Your part time hours are now your contractual hours on a permanent basis - the fact that you may have worked full time at some point in the past is irrelevant.

If they want to change your terms and conditions by increasing your hours they have to get your consent.

Have a read here about changes to terms and conditions and here about what happens if you don't agree.

Thanks Flowery - much appreciated. Went to CAB today and they said pretty much the same. How to proceed now is a different matter!!

They haven't even got places at nursery for one extra day until August anyway!!

I'd just say no. I would write to them formally saying that you have taken advice which has confirmed that your current hours are part of your permanent terms and conditions of employment. You have been advised that in order to change those terms and conditions, your employer must get your consent. You do not wish to increase your hours at this time and are therefore withholding your consent.

If you write formally like that, and making sure they know you have taken advice, they will be less likely to try and bully you into it.
