I have to improve my financial situation. Does anyone know about career development loans and how to go about starting up my private practise?

I'm a physiotherapist.
I've made a list of courses costing about £1000 that would put me in a position to start up my own private physio practise.
I don't have £1000.
What do i do now?
I have potential to earn decent money but i can't seem to get there.

Any advice welcome.
Thanks.

Are you working atm in the health service - can you access their training programme and then long term think about going it alone?

Alternatively - develop a robust business plan and go and see a bank.

How long would it take you to save up £1000 if you were really strict do you think you could save £100 a month - then you'll have your £1000 in a year.

Or buy the courses on an interest free credit card - cheaper than a business loan.

Career develop loans are excellent for this. DP had one to train as a driving instructor. There are only a few places that do them he had his through Barclays. Don't forget to look at exam costs if appropriate and add this to the course cost.

IIRC the interest rates are very favourale IIRC.

I work for the NHS at the moment. I've just gone back to work and got reregistered after having time off to have the kids.
Unfortunately the area i work in does not warrant me being shit hot at musculoskeletal therapy (i work in mental health) and I think my line manager would see right through any request for funding as a means of me making money elsewhere.
The £1000 is made up of 5 different weekend courses, between now and september. I'm not sure the CDL's would cover lots of different courses or if they prefer you to sign up to one course.
The credit card isn't such a bad idea.
And I need a proper business plan, as once i'm feeling more qualified there would be a bit of equipment i'd need.
I'll find out about formulating a business plan.
Thanks.

Saving pretty much impossible as DH made redundant and my salary isn't cutting it as it is.
Hence the need to make a change.

contact your local business link. they should be able to point you in the right direction

I assue you have seen this. It has loads of info - and it appears that 1 loan = 1 course.

It also appears that teh course has to be linked to teh CDL system. Give them a ring and see what they say. There is a number on that website.
