I currently work 2 days a week (42K full time) - 16,500K part time. My boss has said that if I return for 3 days a week, I could have some extra responsibility and my wage would be 50K (so 30K for 3 days). Trouble is, I LOVE being at home with my baby and toddler and really don't want to do the extra day. I know it is just one day but I don't want to lose the quality time I have with my children for this day. I am unable to have any more children so this really is the last 'mummy time at home for me.' My husband (as well as my work) are pressuring me to do the extra day - but I really don't want to. I feel that I have 30 years to work - all I want is 3 years out of 30 to be a 2 day working week.Happiness is so much more important than money - don't you think??

If you don't want to do it don't do it - but I think that you would find your job easier to do in three days and 30k for part time work is really a good salary. It is possible to work more than two days a week and still be happy. I work five days and am perfectly happy - and my baby is my last one too. If it's not right then don't let anyone pressure you - but don't rule out just because you think it's too many days - I think you would be surprised at how well it can work.

If you did three days then you'd still be home more than you were at work so the balance is in favour of at home. The money does sound great, but you also seem pretty sure that you don't want to go back so that's your answer unless your family NEEDS the money rather than your husband just liking the idea of some extra money. I guess you could always try the 3 days for a trial period, but if you're enjoying being at home and know you don't want to do the 3 days then you shouldn't be pressured into it.
And extra responsibility probaly means extra stress!
