Is anybody out there a trainer? I am currently an occassional supply teacher who doesn't want to go back to full, or even part-time teaching!! I have come to the conclusion I don't like children enough lol! But seriously I have enjoyed giving talks to parents, colleagues etc. and am wondering whether I could persue a career as a trainer. I know a lot of people who work as trainers have moved from other areas in the business (i.e in retail) but would my teaching background help at all? If anyone does or knows about this kind of role, I'd appreciate any advice .

The trainers I know have the CIPD qualification. You might be able to get some credit for your teaching qualifications. Have a look at this website for more information on the qualification and the chartered institute.

My organisation does employ some trainers, but they tend to work in commissioning roles these days and spend less time training and more time on strategy, coaching and organisation development. The trainers that do work directly for us are trained social workers who spend all their time training social care staff. I suspect there may be a similar set-up in the LEA. Actually, I think there is....governor training. I guess it depends on the sector you want to enter, but your LEA might well be interested in you.

A friend of mine left teaching to teach teachers on their degree course. Does this appeal?
