I was on garden leave for 3 months then handed in my notice (8 weeks) in December.
I didn't go into the office, I sent and email to HR in India asking that they forward it on to whoever would be dealing with it.
I suggested my last day of 'work' but asked for confirmation, and also asked to be told what would happen about holidays etc.

However, I haven't heard back a thing. Although this doesn't bother me really as it makes no difference, I am thinking it rather strange.

How does it seem to you? Will they just stop paying me and that will be the end of it?? No exit interview or the like? I have a pension with them plus other benefits, so would that all be tied up after the notice period is up?

It has crossed my mind that maybe the person I sent the resignation to didn't forward it on or it has got 'lost' somehow. Or am I being too hopeful?

????

Sorry I'm confused, were you being made redundant, is that why you were on garden leave?

If you were on garden leave why did you need to hand in your notice? Garden leave is where you are on your notice but not required to come into work.

Your last day of employment ought to have been notified to you when you were placed on garden leave. In terms of the other stuff, I would just contact them and ask when you can expect to hear about leaving arrangements.

Where's your boss in all this? Speak to him/her as well.

OK I can see that my op was confusing, I was in a rush.

By 'garden leave' I meant on the bench - there wasn't a project for me to go on so I remained unassigned at home. The year prior to being on the bench I was on maternity leave and the project prior to going on mat. leave has ended and disbanded. I haven't properly worked since that project in July 2007, and I don't have a specific manager or fixed location to go to. Hence why I sent the email to a person in HR whose name I was given when coming back from mat. leave, and I asked them to forward the email to the relevant person.

It has all been so disorganised and I have felt very disconnected from the company, I have sometimes wondered if I have fallen down the cracks.

To be honest there isn't much to organise for my departure...no desk to clear, no laptop/phone to return, so that may be a reason for the anticlimax.

There is a part of me that wonders if my email wasn't received though. 8 working days to go and still no confirmation of receipt. It makes no bones to me, if I carry on getting paid then I shall have to deal with that situation when it arises.

Why are you leaving then if you are getting paid for doing nothing?

You definitely want to leave rather than sort this out?

If you do want to leave and have resigned, you can't let them keep paying you, you'll only have to pay it back.
