i'm a teacher in an independent school and baby is due at end of july. i'd like to go on maternity leave at end of june. school are offering me the statutory maternity pay arrrangements, i.e. 6 weeks at 90%, then SMP. But my query is this...what happens to my holiday pay? if i were not having a baby i would have july/august at 100% pay...why should i lose this just because i'm having a baby? do i have any rights here? as a teacher, doesnt my contract run september-august, therefore i have worked all year, so am entitled to holiday pay? any advice welcome!
