College lecturer?

I am an architect and have just applied for a job as a lecturer teaching construction technology in a FE college. The job seems too good to be true - a decentish salary, pension, 50 days holiday, includes in house training for a PGCE, plus £5000 golden hello after a year.
Does anyone else do something similar - is it rewarding or is it a lot of churning students through a sausage machine and ticking boxes? Also I would rather work part-time - is this welcomed or should I start full-time and negotiate afterwards. This may come to nothing as I haven't even been offered an interview yet!!!!

Bumping for you.

I was employed at 2 Colleges of FE. The first one made my post and manu others redundant after a year due to funding; the other expected me to work Saturdays and most evenings in addition to preparation. I left after four months to have dd and never returned. Perhaps I was unlucky, but colleges of FE have a tendency to "casualise" employment arrangements and to pursue university status at all costs, so take care.

FE is very much the poor relation of university lecturing and school teaching imo. Wages are in general much lower and working conditions tougher and less stable. This does not mean there are not good colleges and jobs around in FE but that you should really try to get a feel of the place before you accept any job
