pay rises whilst on mat leave, could be owd money!

read on a website today that if you had a payrise whilst on mat leave you need to check that payroll calculated this in your mat pay, i work as a nurse for nhs and we get pay increments every year so you would think payroll would be up tospeed on this????

i rang and asked i went on mat leave may 08 had pay rise sept and due back march this year, they didnt calculate it and owe me money they have yet to calculate how much, but worth checking out if any of you have had an increment in wages.

Yes, and part of the problem is many software packages don't automatically handle it. I work in payroll and have to manually work out.

One thing you SHOULD know is that it should be backdated to May, NOT September, even though the pay rise was in September. This bit isn't always fully appreciated!

Its known as "the Alabaster rule", after the lady that went to court over it.

My mat pay is cal on the previuos 15 weeks ave. went on mat leave half way through feb and annual, performance related pay rise effective from march - should I ahve got it?

If I ahve read this correctly then the following would apply to me.........as I get fullt pay for the first 12 weeks of mat leave, there is no obligation for this to ahve taken inot account any pay rise and rest of mat pay was at the stat rate????

sounds like you should get it but you would need to check with your payrol whether they have included this in your allowance, chances are they havent so they may have to re calculate, its worth a phonecall tho
