www.premierhost.com
About £80 a year excl VAT IIRC (excluding the domain name cost).
Very easy to set up - but then again I know about these things and designed and coded the site myself!

www.biggest-hosting.com

Think it was £30 odd that's for the space.

www.123-reg.co.uk for the domain name (co.uk) for £2.99 for 2 years.

Thanks

I don't know anything about designing websites and when I've looked at a few of these, I don't even understand what they are offering

All I want is a very basic website that allows me to upload the content myself and that comes with an email address. I'd also like to be able to play around with design templates, but without any of the skills of web design or code.

Did any of you have these requirements?

Have you looked at Mr Site? It would supply everything you need. And for cheap stock photos, try iStockphoto (I love looking through those).

Thanks JJ, Mr Site sounds like it would be simple enough even for me. Some poor (although mostly good) reviews on Amazon though. Have you used it yourself?

No - I haven't used it but have seen a few sites made with it. It depends what you wan thte site for and how professional it needs to look. From my admittedly scanty knowledge of 'build it yourself' products, it looks like Mr Site is the best; any cheaper and it will be difficult and might not look like you want.

If you can afford someone to do it for you, even better, but that starts at a few hundred pounds. And if you can afford graphic design, etc, even better but that's more!

Actually, if you have time, try Dreamweaver. Do the tutorial and see how it goes! You would need to register a domain name and get hosting separately though.
