Freelance and having to work immediately after the baby is born

Hi there, I'm 26 weeks pregnant and freelance and have to return to work a month after giving birth. Does anyone have any advice about childcare options and the best way to manage working (approx 2 - 3 days a week) with a newborn? I have a home office but having read some of the posts on here realise to attempt to work alone with the baby and no childcare will be almost impossible

As I'm on my own I simply can't not take this contract so would really appreciate any advice from anyone in a similar position.

Thanks!!

I have a nanny, which I know is often more expensive than a childminder or nursery, but if you can manage it for a while at least it might be the best option with a newborn, as you will get one to one care, and your baby will be right there at home with you, maximising the amount of time you see him/her.

Hi nicolez
I returned working after 2 weeks due to career needs (part time at first) but actually found it easier earlier on than when my dd got older as the baby slept a lot! I had some childcare from early on (very enthusiastic childminder) which I was very lucky to have but I also worked when baby was asleep. Not ideal but I'm a bit of a stress buster so suited my personality! It is doable. And just to add I had the most complicated delivery (e.g. included blood transfusion) possible so that doesn't necessarily affect things) if things need to be done work wise I mean. Ring around re childcare options
