Contracts for staff - please help!

hi everyone, really hope you can help. I have recently taken over as chairperson (voluntary role, fit around a full-time job and looking after DS) of the local after-school club attached to the local primary school where I am also a governor.
I have been told by the manager of the club that none of the staff actually have contracts. This is really worrying me and as chairperson I know the buck stops with me, but I have no knowledge of contracts or anything HR-related. All the staff are paid on an hourly rate based on when they are needed (as the club is open all day during school holidays).
Can anybody point me in the right direction of either a)an organisation which can help me without me having to pay them or b)a very simple standard contract for childcare workers which I could adapt to suit the circumstances?
I'd really appreciate any help as I don't have a clue where to start looking!
Thanks everyone
SC

I know it's a different childcare setting but you could try the Pre-school Learning Alliance website. It has lots of standard documents available.

Also it might be worth asking the school it is attahced to for a copy of a standard contract for teaching assistants or something similar. You could then use it as a basis for your own.

Pre-school learning alliance can supply you with contracts you literally fill in the blanks. Also your local council may have a whole childcare department that can help you, Surrey certainly does.

Thanks for your replies. Since I'm a governor at the school I should be able to get hold of a contract for TAs, and I will contact the learning alliance as well.
Fingers crossed I get somewhere before Ofsted notice...

If they have been working several weeks at the same times & days then by default they have formed a contract anyway, try not to panick! Just remember they are entitled to holiday pay.
