But I am just not going to be able to get one.

I have very difficult and fussy specific requiremnts it has to fill.

I do not want to have to use any childcare. The main reason for that being that whatever small amount I earn will be spent on childcare.

So that leaves a job that I could do with the kids . CM/nanny come to mind . I've done that and need a change. I am qualified in both. NNEB etc. But can't imagine getting a nanny job where I can fit in ds's nursery collections and also dd's school run ( unless I nannyed for a family with same age kids at same school, not likely)

Or another idea I had was to get a job mornings only whilst ds was at nursery. BUT the gap of time is just so small. I dont have anybody who could look after him for me after nursery.

I thought of being a dinner lady but you need to work till 1 ish and nursery goes on till 12.30 at the latest (thats with paying for an extra hour)

Then I thought about evening work Really dont want to miss putting the kids to bed. But we are soooo OD.
So,I came up with care assistant. Apparantly you dont need qualifications. Is this right? A friend works 4 till 9 which could be do-able . I would have to sort something out for dc's untill dh is home. He would be back just too late for me to be on time.

Could I do this do you think?

Aaaarrrggghh if only we were rich! lol

I also emailed 2 local creches in leisure centres.

I have similar problems and my two are at school all day, but there are no childminders that pick up from school and no after school care, Granny now lives nearby so the kids can go there, but she is not keen for 5 days a week and she can't take them to actvities in town that they do, they have a 4.45 start and a 5.30 start then other stuff later. No partner so no one to do the taxi run for the activities.

I am looking now for something perhaps 9-4.30 or 5pm latest, should be able to get something surely.

I do have a part time casual job that I do on saturdays and occasional evenings then someweekends when they stay at granny's, so I get a few shifts a week with them, good as I can work what ever shifts suit me and if I am stuck for baby sitting I can pull out at quite short notice.

Ideas do you live in or near a big town or city?

Hi, if you get a job as a health care support worker you could work nights? I am a nurse and when I do nights I sleep once I take my DS to nursery. You could look at NHS professionals, its the agency the NHS use first when short staffed. Plus they will pay for any training, and you will get an account which enables you to view all available shifts so you book what suits you,

I would ring agencies that provide carers to go into peoples homes, they could be fexible with hours

I do Pampered Chef - like Virgin Vie etc - I find it very enjoyable, and doesn't seem to be too badly affected by current downturn...

Care assistant is good idea - I run a care service and we have lots of staff who work anything from 8 to 35 hours - you might get an evening shift but hours of work really hinge around when people need care, so there is more work available in the early mornings ( to get up) and evenings (to bed) You don't need specific qualifications but Care Standards require a "robust" recruitment procedure so you need to show a genuine committment and interest in the work - you will also have a 12 week induction and training programme followed by NVQ2 so you need to be prepared to adapt and work at it. The good thing is that NVQ 3 is a qualification that canlead to some really nice jobs - like assessing people who need care and Local Authorities who have generous pay, mileage and holidays, plus pensions, employ a lot of these people. Might be just the thing for you.
