Anybody else working in an industry/company rife with redundancy at the moment?

And how are you finding it? we're waving people off month in month out here and it's like an emotional roller-coster. I feel completely drained by it all really.

because of the people you are sad to see go
and then people you are happy to see go or who wanted to go
then the uncertainty, if or when there will be another wave and whether you'll be impacted
not knowing whether to take new opportunities or stay
trying to work out whether or not it would really be a bad thing

urgh, it's horrible at the moment.

I am so tired of it all.. wish it would just stop for a few months so everyone can get back on an even keel

sorry, whinge over

I am (was) a property lawyer.

Now I am a secretary.........

And the firm I used to work for has just made its next round of redundancies.

All the other firms I know are in the same position.

Horrible indeed.

But if I had stayed I wouls still be waiting for the axe to fall. So at least I don't have that hanging over me.

DH does. It's quite stressing as I'm 27 weeks pg and we need his salary to pay the bills.

They seem to be going by the book and have started issuing notes for investigatory meetings if you are running 15min late in the morning etc. DH just got one (although his boss knows that he has a 2h commute and DH has been with the company for a few years) and is very worried. Good luck!

Fadingaway, I was let go a few months ago - were you in resi or commercial? How have you found doing sec work? I imagine that it could either be soul-destroying or a nice break from the usual pressures of being a lawyer or perhaps you're just very pragmatic about it and just get on with it?
