Does anyone else find the logistics of working quite difficult???

I work part time, mainly evenings. Am finding it really difficult at the moment because I feel very tired all the time and have a lot on my plate. I find the mornings after I've worked are in particular very hard as I find it difficult to drag myself out of bed to be up with dc's and get them to school on time. I finish work between 11pm and midnight then I have to drive home (about 15min drive), once home I have to unwind before going to bed. I also volunteer for a charity during the week and do a few hours cleaning as well. I have to work for financial reasons, and took the evening job so that I didn't have to find/pay for childcare but I'm fed up of being so tired all the time and have realised that I really need to find a job with daytime hours rather than night time ones.

Here's my problem, it's the logistics of working during the day. We live in a very rural area. Dc's go to a school that does not have a breakfast club but does offer an after school club, there are no child minders in this area either. How do I get the kids to school and get to work on time all at the same time???

Any suggestions greatly appreciated and has anyone else had a similar problem???

Ar there any jobs you can do from 9.30 to 5.30 (you do drop off at school and dc go to after school club). You could certainly try to negotiate those hours.

Or how about a job within school environment and hours. Cleaning in school or dinner lady or classroom assistant?

Would you consider child minding? If there aren't any in the area there may be a need/shortage?

I work from 9:30 to 3:00 most days and an extra long day each week to make up for the time lost. It works fine... well, fine, I'm tired all the time, and feeling like I need some free time to be able to catch up with things but... as you, I have not a choice, so I just get on with it.

Meg, you've really got me thinking about this. I guess there really is a shortage of childminders in this area. I'm definitely going to look into it. It's not my ideal job but it's perfect for fitting in with my dc's and would solve all my problems.

Does anyone know how I set about finding out the information I would need??
