If a job application form is emailed to you, but says "complete in black ink", do I write or type?

You can handwrite it (in black ink!)

Personally I'd type the covering letter but only because i have doctors handwriting!

Type - just make sure it is printed using black print.

It needs to be black for ease of photocopying is all.

These days I think it is almost expected to type.

Good luck

Um write with a black biro? That's what I would have done. The key word for me is ink, not toner.

Wrt application letter, I believe that should always be handwritten. It was the case when I had to do them aeons ago.

HTH

You could do either, as long as it's not in blue or purple or other pretty colour

I would advise typing it if possible, you can fit more in and make it much clearer and easier to read for the person reading it. Unless your writing is super-neat and you don't need to say much so you can space it out very well and make it very easy on the eye, typing is better.

And definitely don't handwrite a covering letter.

Is it one you are able to download and type into Orinoco? In which case do.

flowerybeanbag · 15/10/2008 13:37

Oh ignore me. Just seen that it was emailed to you.

If you have good handwriting, then write it in black ink. If your handwriting is not so good, then typing it would be better. (10yrs experience in recruitment - have read a LOT of application forms!)

If you're still worried, just call the company and ask them - they won't think you're silly for asking and it could save them and you a bit of trouble at the first stage.
