Inflation and childcare costs - how much have yours gone up?

Just a quick survey for those of you with childcare in London. How much have your childcare costs (nursery/nanny/childminder) gone up over the past year? I want to give my nanny a pay rise, but not sure what inflation WRT to childcare costs is doing.

Thanks!

Well according to the NurseryWorld survey, Nanny salaries actually fell for the first time last year, for the first time in a decade. We usually give ours a 6-8% increase annually.

Moved from London to Wiltshire in the last 3 months. In London I was paying £265 net for a live in, qualified, kiwi nanny, 12 hour days, 2 babysitting evenings a week, she got sole use of a car. I'm now paying the same for a live out, NNEB, english nanny (similar levels of experience) with slightly shorter hours, no babysitting, but she doesn't get a car (uses her own)
hope that's helpful.

How much does a fulltime Nanny usually cost? My ds is in a private Nursery and I was wondering if it would be cheaper.

oops wiltshirelass.... I hadn't refreshed my display and I never saw you entry. That's quite expensive!! I'll stick with private nursery!

Out of London - but our nursery cost increased from £23 to £25 a day this year. It would be nice if I had had any payrise at all (inc cost of living) but thats another story.

Also out of London - Wokingham to be precise and our nursery fees have just gone up from £41 to £43 per day !

Can hardly afford to work at all !!

We're in London, we pay £90 net a day for three days for two children (one now in nursery p/t) It's incredibly expensive, but I loved her and she is beyond fantastic with the kids...and it was a personal recommendation so I saved on the agency fee (which can easily be a grand here). Our (private) nursery place was around £50 a day so with two this starts to make more sense and you benefit from the flexibility and longer hours. I saw a lot of girls through agencies, most were 70-85 a day. Hope that helps!

thanks everyone - range appears to be from around 5% to around 9% (!) Round figures ie £ per day appear to dominate though.

Ours went up from £480/month to £510/month - so 6.25%, but it was the first increase in 2 years, so not really that bad. They've also increased the time they close at Christmas for though, so we actually get a few less days in the year than we used to.
