I am self employed and claim working tax credits - can I still claim if I get sick?

Can anyone help me with this or direct me to somewhere where it is clearly explained - I can't seem to find a straight answer.

yes

you dont have to do more than declare your self employed status for working tax credits and then enter your income when you get the forms

that is oncopme for the year

thanks Zippitoes - I don't really understand what you mean though - maybe I'm being dense?

Are you saying that I just miss work for as long as i'm sick but as long as I declare my annual income I'm ok?

If I's sick for say two months would that apply or should I be telling them i'm not working ?

well i wouldnt tell them you are sick

you are still self employed even if you are sick and its based on your annual income

As long as you're not sick for more than 28 consecutive weeks you still qualify for WTC.

Basically you fill in your tax return and then when you know your annual income you fill in the working tax credits form stating your annual income. Being sick has nothing to do with it... When you are self employed you don't get sick pay.
