its her loss

Anna8888 · 26/08/2008 13:12

Do you have someone else you know who you could ask?

Dragonbutter · 26/08/2008 13:15

my last employer is much more likely to help. they were much more helpful and supportive when i had to make the decision to give up work due to pnd.
have to pull myself together before i can call them. don't want to be wailing down the phone.

Well, there isn't a huge hurry is there? You can wait until later this afternoon or until tomorrow. Far better to call later in a positive frame of mind than to muck up the call.

Dragonbutter · 26/08/2008 13:20

ok, you're right. i didn't sleep well last night worrying about how i would get my career back and so today might not be the best day to do this.

maybe it would be better if you went along in person than over the phone

Slubberdegullion · 26/08/2008 17:29

Oh Dragonbutter , only just got back to this. Sorry to hear your phone call didn't go well. As with most careers I suspect it will be a bit of an uphill struggle initially to get back onto the work scene.

Wonderful to hear in such a female dominated profession a manager being so helpful and positive about your desire to return to work

I would speak to the return to practice person at the CSP. They were always really helpful (ime) and will give you guidance on reregistering with the HPC and how a return to practice scheme would work. The CSP can get quite feisty too, on your behalf. If you feel that managers are being overtly negative and obstructive if you want to apply for a job then I would speak to the CSP about that too.

Good Luck

thanks everyone.
once i get a bee in my bonnet i want everything sorted out immediately. I only thought about going back to work the other day and now i'm getting all worked up about it.
i need to take a calmer measured approach to this and stop panicking.
i think ideally i want to get together some sort of 3 year plan, that way i can be qualified to work in an area i want to work like womens health around the time my youngest starts school.

still feeling though.
feel my career is a bit dead because we chose to have children and be a sahm for a while. pants.

I am a physio in private practice outside the uk. I believe univ of bradford do a course in women's health which is long but would really help you getting back into it. Would build your confidence too. I had another idea though which is teaching pilates? Any interest because the training is really short and you could work around the kids. A lot of private practices here have pilates classes running. It might be a way of getting a foot in the door?

Dragonbutter · 07/09/2008 00:05

i've been looking at the course at bradford and got really excited about it but then realised you had to already be working in womens health to do the course? what now?

Sorry to resurrect such an old thread but just wondered if any of you had any luck? And if so what path you took. Thanks.

riad2104 · 23/05/2015 09:56

Same here, sorry to do this as well. I know it's been years since this thread started. I'm in a similar situation right now and was wondering if anyone managed to return to physio practice.
